On the 10th of December, 2008, the international co-operation between the University of Ostrava and the private University L.U.de.S., Lugano, Switzerland was launched at an opening ceremony.
The first participants in this unique project are Bachelor students of physiotherapy - 46 students from Switzerland and 17 students from the University of Ostrava. To be accepted and included in the programme, the students must have linguistic knowledge and the potential to finish the course. The international tuition will be carried out according to the curricula of both universities, for the Czech students in Czech and partly in English. The final state exam and the defence of the Bachelor thesis will be carried out in both languages, in front of a committee constituted by lecturers from both partner universities. The students who pass the final state exam will receive a so-called double diploma, i.e. a degree from the home and foreign university which will entitle them to use a Bachelor degree in both countries. The aim of the project is to promote international relations and international co-operation in study and research.
